Get to know Iranian 2017 Nowruz films

Nowruz (The Iranian New Year) is a golden chance for movies to be screened due to the raise in attendance that the holidays offer.

Five films have been confirmed to go on the silver screen during the first days of Nowruz:

‘Patrol 2’:

‘Patrol 2’ directed by Saeed Soheili is a sequel to ‘Patrol 1’. Abbas and Hassan have served their five-year prison terms. Upon their release from jail, they look for Ata who has recently woken up from coma.Now the three friends are looking for decent jobs. Unsuccessful in job hunt, however, they may slip again.

‘Patrol 2’ cast includes Hamid Farrokhnejad, Saed Soheili, Poulad Kimiaei, Tarlan Parvaneh, Sara Soheili, Bahareh Afshari, Safar Kashkouli, Mehdi Mahani, and Sanaz Tari.

‘Midday Event’:

‘Midday Event’ directed by Mohammad-Hossein Mahdavian, features Mehrdad Seddiqian, Ahmad Mehranfar, Hadi Hejazifar, Mehdi Zaminpardaz, Mahya Dehqani, Linda Kiani, Hossein Mehri, and Javad Ezzati.

It has gained most credit at the 35th Fajr Film Festival in Iran bagging five Cristal Simorgh Awards.

‘The Good, the Bad and the Frivolous’

‘The Good, the Bad and the Frivolous’ Directed by Peyman Qasemkhani stars Iran’s popular actors Hamid Farrokhnejad, Pejamn Jamshidi and Sam Derakhshani.

The film narrates the story of a film director who has to use two superstars for his new film contrary to his desires. ‘The Good, the Bad and the Frivolous’ premiered in Iran at the 35th Fajr Film Festival.

‘Abajan’

Also premiered at 35th Fajr Film Festival, ‘Abajan’ directed by Hatef Alimardani, revolves around the life of a family in the 80s. Witnessing their happiness, sadness, the war, everything was pleasant.

‘Abajan’ features actors such as Shabnam Moghadami, Fatemeh Motamed-Arya, Saeed Aghakhani, Mohammad Reza Ghafari, and Hamid Reza Azarang.

‘One Special Day’

‘One Special Day’, directed by Homayoon As'adian, tells the story of a boy named Hamed who has to make a hard decision when his sister has to get a heart procedure.

The film casts stars such as: Mostafa Zamani, Farhad Aslani, Parinaz Izadyar, Mohsen Kiaei and Afsaneh Kamali

The Persian New Year, Nowruz, starts with the beginning of spring in Iran, where people hold ceremonies for the onset of the season. This year, Nowruz starts on March 21, 2017.
